Hello Everyone,
The above patent, was discolored by Verisity several months ago. It
was sent directly to the SV-CC committee. Please remember that Accellera do
not support any standard that is donated that does include patents on Syntax
and Semantics. Many companies have signed up to do this when they donate
materials to Accellera. Among the companies who did especially on formal are
IBM, Motorola, Intel, Synopsys and Verisity. Synopsys did so also on the
rest of the donations for SystemVerilog (including Co-Design).
So the focus for this analysis is to determine if the specific
patent has any relevance to the CC outcome. The patent was sent to that
committee during discussions on Coverage. So we need to determine if the
patent has Syntax or Semantics which would interfere with the standard being
generated by the CC committee. The outcome will be reported to the Accellera
Board. To make clear, I have requested Verisity to provide information to
the board several months ago (clarification of position, why they sent this
to the CC committee, Relevancy information, etc.).
Any feedback, please send it directly to me. We will discuss it on
February 28. A summary will be generated and sent to everyone, especially
the Accellera Board.
