I had an action item to look at this, but had been to busy to do so.

I think that Shalom has a very good point, and that something should be
done about it. Perhaps the statement should be modified to say that the
assignment does not produce a warning if the value being assigned was an
unsized literal. That would cover the most common case that Shalom has
pointed out.
