It is already illegal to use a hierarchical reference to that variable. Having tools generate a standard name doesn't change that. And if a tool fails to enforce the rule against hierarchical references, and an engineer chooses to write illegal code that uses them, I can't imagine that they will be held back by the names being non-portable. The use of the hierarchical reference is already non-portable to any compliant implementation. So you are talking about giving up an ability in exchange for nothing.
