Following up on Brad's comment in http://www.eda-stds.org/sv-bc/hm/5778.html on Draft 2: "6.5 -- "The keywords logic and reg are equivalent types (see 6.20.2 for details on type equivalence)." A keyword is not a type. I think that the 'logic' and 'reg' data types are at least matching, not merely equivalent, and are perhaps even identical types. I see no details about this issue in the cross-referenced 6.20.2." This statement is in 6.7 in Draft 3. It comes from section 4.3.2 of 1800-2005, and I think its place is in the parallel section in Draft 3, which is 6.11.2. I propose to delete the following from 6.7: The keyword reg does not always accurately describe user intent, as it could be perceived to imply a hardware register. The keyword logic as a more descriptive term. The keywords logic and reg are equivalent types (see 6.22.2 for details on type equivalence). (Note: the word "as" in the 2nd sentence is a mistake.) and add the following to 6.11.2 before the paragraph that begins, "Automatic type conversions...": "The keyword reg does not always accurately describe user intent, as it could be perceived to imply a hardware register. The keyword logic is a more descriptive term. logic and reg denote the same type."
