This came up in today's meeting. My earlier comments and Ed Cerny's response can be found at: http://www.eda.org/sv-bc/hm/8040.html I don't have deep concerns with $elab_error as such but raised concerns about "error" versus "fatal" and how predictable such things would be in various tools. I think that I'd vote against 1769 as is but Ed has already indicated a willingness to address my concerns.
