Dissallowed by LRM but supported by tools (as Dave claims - forced to
support by client) - maybe LRM should be more strict for such case - some
examples, explicit statement etc..., maybe LRM should redefine behaviour to
match current vendor support? :

I ran the test cases on two simulators. Due to a change in our computing
environment, I temporarily have a problem to access a third.
 
Of Daniel's 18 test cases, the two simulators agreed on 15 of them, i.e.,
either both passed compilation or both failed compilation. 
 
They disagreed on 8, 9, and 17.
 
One of the two was stricter on 8 and 9 and more lenient on 17.

Please consider also attached additional cases 17, 18 iimho have clear
errors - but 15 16 aren't so clear.

I'll look at your test cases and add to Mantis notes about those issues
which are not already listed.

I've prepeared couple of tests showing the issues related to tf declaration.
 
IMHO the LRM doesn't explicitly said what is allwed and what not- all
possible cases and details are in attachment but the problem may be
illustrated by case like below:
 
 
function void f1(input b);
         reg [3:0] b;  //mixture of ANSI and non ANSI like declaration of tf
- imho this should be dupllicate identifier 
    begin
        $display("%b", b);
    end
endfunction
 
Is this known problem? is there mantis for that? - or maybe I've missed
descripition of such cases in LRM?
