Cliff,

In your enumeration proposal, I suggest replacing enum_type by integer_type, which is defined in the BNF.

I also suggest that the default data type with x or z should be integer, so that it has the same number of bits as the default without x or z, which is int. If the constants themselves are sized, this size must be the same and it overrides the default data type.
