Agenda
Review Document Draft Editor Notes
Examine Issues slated for discussion in this meeting
    .*
    $root
    Adams email contents
    Packed / Unpacked Arrays.

Document Editor Note Review
1. Page 16 - Remove editor note / section 5.6 on V2K1 compatibility. Peter
stated that there was no difference
2. Page 18 - Peter needs to resend note on attributes
3. Section 9.2 - Needs to be updated after discussion on state machines
next week
4. Page 32 - Usage of iff. Will be dealt with during chapter review next week
5. Page 34 - Should be done with FSM review next week
6. Page 39 - Peter has sent previous email proposing change to
interleaving. Will resend email
7. Page 42 - Editor note already fixed on port interconnect example
8. Page 42 - Peter has added explanation
9. Page 47/48 - $root retained by vote (see below)
10. Page 50 - Discussion on extern module declaration
General discussion around the use of externs, and how some of our proposals
affect incremental compilation. This is tied in with the $root discussion.
Externs and general consideration around incremental compilation will be
put off until 3.1. Kevin and Alec have the action of exploring this for the
next release, to provide a proposal.

11. Page 52 - .* and .name issue.
Peter F noted proposal for .* may create opportunity for more user error.
Generally thought to be very useful by committee. Some concerns regarding
debugging, etc. Vassilios action to generate email vote for two proposals
.* and .name. Vote should take place later in the week.

12. Page 53 - Peter thought that this had been done - will resend email to Stu
13. Page 55 - Alex - semantic should be stated more explicitly. Modular
nature should be stated more explicitly. DaveK to send Alex the tutorial
presented at HDLCon last week. Seems like we need to improve explanations
in the documentation. Alex will look at this. Needs to be revisited next week.

14. Page 58/59 - Need vote on .* above
15. Page 77 - Remove deprecation section as this will be deferred.

No general comments.

Issues list:
For issues from last meeting to be discussed: .*, $root, Adams email,
Packed / Unpacked Arrays.

.*
Already covered above. Will be voted on this week via email.

$root
Discussion followed based around the power of $root and its use for
providing global variables, etc, versus whether it should be discussed
along with such capabilities as externs, etc, in 3.1. Vassilios noted that
there was no counter proposal for handling globals, in particular. After
discussion, Kevin said OK to keeping $root, but noted that he thought it
would cause issues later as other things are considered for the standard.
Vassilios motioned, PeterF seconded proposal to keep $root. Kevin, Adam
abstained from vote, all other meeting attendees voted for. $root is
retained as per proposed specification.

We decided that as we were getting close to the end of the meeting, we
would table the other two issues to the next meeting

Merging BNF. Anders suggested leaving it not merged for now, until some of
the other open issues were resolved.

Next Meeting Monday 25th March 2002 (NOTE 1 week from today)
